Still Alive!

You know what ?

I was controlled by the local police 1st time in 5 month, and today!
And everything went ok, maybe the police man just wanted to practice his English!

Actually, i did not mention it but, i am in Serbia now !

Let me tell you how i got there from Zagreb....

This started last Monday, i left Drago's place and drove slowly, including siesta in the sun, to get to Marko and Andrea's place in Krizevci. I arrived there early, around 4 pm, and could visit the town, have a look at the cathedral, try to find some wireless, then buy a cake and join my hosts for a quick but really enjoyable evening. People from Croatia who have friends in Rennes can only be nice people, and when they have home made liquor and grow their own rabbits, that is just perfect !

On Tuesday i went to Hungary through the Gola - Berzence border, and was asked gently where i was going to, and if i had something to declare, by the man controlling there.

Then started 2 days of going through flat Hungary, wild camping and finally deciding to use 'boules quies' in the night not to hear the birds or the wild animals around... pigs or not...
I went through Nagyatad, Mike, Pesc, Mohach, then found the Danube and got kind of adventurous... i decided to take some very small roads, got lost, then finally found some more detailed maps in my bag and could arrive in Baja on Thursday afternoon, at Zsuzsanna's place.

The time in Baja was really great, made me feel like i was back hone 20 years before or so. I mean, a house open to neighbors, friends and boyfriends of the children (4 daughters in the house with the mother - a nurse - and the boyfriend - a bee keeper), foreigners etc.
I could enjoy the free time of some of the daughters to visit the city, time with Zsuzsanna to cook Langos on Gulyas, or to watch and 'learn' how to make a dress...

Then on Sunday i left Baja to go to Serbia. I did not take the Euro Velo route but some roads in the middle, like shortcuts, as i wanted to go close to another border checkpoint that would allow me to go to Vukovar. I wanted to go close to Bogojovo. So on this Sunday i went through Sombor, Apatin and its bruery.
Next day, on Monday, i wanted to cross this Bogajovo border and.... it was closed :( so i continued on the Serbian side on the Danube and did not see Vukovar.
I read my e mails and saw that i finally had a potential host in Novi Sad, to stay with Kris from whom i am writing now.
The when and for how long she could host me was no so clear so i stared to go straight to Novi Sad, then received a message saying she could host me only from the next day, so i changed my pland, went back a little, talked to some children in a village and tried to explain i was from France and i came alone by bike here, then teaching them some basic French words... it was fun!
In the evening i stopped to camp on the outside of Backa Palanka, another border town to Croatia.

And so was today, Tuesday the 29th, when i took a portion of the Euro Velo route 6, was controlled by the police, then met Sophie and Luke the Birtish couple on their honey moon going by bike from England to Turkey. It was great to meet then and continue the way to Novi Sad with them, have a burek in town and a coffee , see the pictures of Vukovar because they were on the other side of the river, and... then learn that Luke got kind of an illness in the evening, all of a sudden....

Then i met Kris around 6, we went at her place to leave the bike and eat and meet a frien of hers then... went back in town for a walk and a drink.

Your servant is now ready to go to bed and this tme, not at the same time as the chicken do go to bed !
